The Piper Group "Trainee Author Scheme" has now been running successfully for over two years, and Ben Laing recently became the first student to pass out as a fully trained author.

The two years of training is split into modules of three month duration, and each module is further split into specific training requirements supplemented with specialist on-job training.

In parallel, the trainees attend Brunel College for two years on a day release course to study Engineering Operations & Maintenance, at the end of which they achieve an Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Certificate/Diploma. A further seven trainees are currently at different stages of the training programme, and further trainees will be recruited this coming July to ensure the conveyor belt of highly trained young professionals continues to be delivered, ensuring the company can support our customers with the required skills.

This training, coupled with a continuous policy of knowledge transfer during the on-job training, puts the Piper Group in an enviable position within the industry, regarding the ability to support our customer requirements now and well into the future.
